PROFESSIONAL RABBIT CONTROL PART 2 - A FEW FERRETS MORE
In this DVD we are escorted around the vast Ferret Ranch with James Bradley viewing the various styles of working ferret, including the rare Micro Greyhound types and some fantastic genuine wild polecat crosses. Followed swiftly by an evenings shooting alongside that well known Hampshire Rabbit Catcher - Phil Lloyd, armed with our new Anschutz .17 HMR rifle and is most certainly deadly. The action continues in the Christmas tree plantation where the rabbits are causing devastation. Here James is joined by the popular old timers - Frank with his Jack Russel Boris and Jimmy with their ferrets and nets. Then its back to the deadly Drop Box, trapping rabbits en masse in Wiltshire. This scene is followed by a ferreting segment amidst the awkward hedgerows of a Hampshire estate, accompanied by young Cassie, the Border Collie lurcher. And this time around, risking - a few ferrets more - only results in an emotional late night digging session in a deep chalk warren to retrieve a determined ferret and then on we go with more ferreting and a light hearted bit of banter from Jimmy (Delia) Smith as he cooks up a feast with some freshly caught wild rabbits. Next its an action packed lamping trip with an experienced lurcher and also see a brief glimpse of a sapling Whippet x Greyhound lurcher on her first madcap nocturnal outing. You will also see the latest DEBEN lithium battery packs and lamps in action.
Further sections include cage trapping, ferret breeding, plenty of rabbiting plus interviews and advice. The film finishes on a high note when the camera stands back to watch Phil Lloyd and his partner Ken Jenkis working on a difficult professional job and attitudes and behaviour change rapidly as the pressure is on. Plenty of bolts and sensible dog work with the experienced Welsh Collie lurcher - Tegan. In this final segment Phil Lloyd takes over the commentary in his free flowing style and pulls no punches in explaining the difficulties encountered and the mistakes made during the mornings work.
